M I T S U K I  K O U Y A M A

12 year old Mitsuki - the main character of the anime/ manga Full Moon wo Sagashite - is Eichi's love. (We were able to meet Eichi, thanks to her!) They first met at an orphanage and as time goes by they got along really well. They were separated one day when Eichi must go to America with his new parents. That time, Eichi and Mitsuki made a promise with each other that when they see each other again, they would be more closer to their dreams - Mitsuki a singer and Eichi an astronaut.
Eichi confessed his love for Mitsuki but unfortunately Mitsuki weren't able to say the same thing to him, but Mistuki really loves Eichi too and is trying her very best to reach her dream of becoming a singer and one day be recognized by Eichi.
The problem is Mitsuki has a tumor in her throat which makes her singing difficult and made her dreams impossible... With help of two Shinigamis, Mitsuki can become Fullmoon - a 16 year old Mitsuki. Now she can be closer to her dreams and to meeting Eichi again.

T h e i r  f i r s t  m e e t i n g

It took place in an orphanage when their eacher was telling Eichi about this little girl. The teacher told Eichi that a teacher was being mean to the little girl, and Eichi felt pity about her and said he would be nice to her. But after knowing that the girl's name MITSUKI also means full moon, he said "I don't think I can be nice to her" (note: before he meets Mitsuki,  Eichi hates the moon. see here).

Right there and then, Mitsuki appeared from behind the bush, and introduced herself. Eichi was surprised thinking that the girl would be gloomy but judging from what he's seeing, the girl is so energetic. But she then cried and Eichi realized, she isn't strong but is just trying her best not to break down. He then hugged her! After that day, they really got along very well. They would be together all the time.
 

T H E  P R O M I S E

Before Eichi left Japan, he and Mistuki had a promise with each other (shown in episode 2: The Promise with Eichi & other episodes).

When Eichi told Mitsuki that he is soon going to America with his new parents, Mitsuki was very deppressed, and Eichi gave Mitsuki his moon calendar.

The day he was leaving the orphanage, he saw that Mitsuki's really sad (I forgot if she was crying?). So he approached Mitsuki and made a pinky promise with her. "America's not far away. Let's make a promise...."
